Annual Girls Trip=Lots of Red!

Even though Summer vacation is winding down, it sure is heating up!  But fear not, fellow thrifters.  The heat hasn't slowed down my treasure hunting!

Since it is Rednesday, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to share with you the Fire King red dot bowls I found while on our girls trip in Snohomish, Washington.  I had never seen these in person and the price was un-heard-of cheap.  Now I just have to complete the set.  I also picked up the table cloth at a little thrift store called "Nurses Helper".  Not sure exactly how Sister missed it!
I saw Laurie over at Magpie Ethel use these vintage shampoo bottles in her 4th of July decorations.  I was pretty excited to find my own to use next year.
I have a huge wall in my dining room that used to be covered with old clocks.  Well, I got tired of them so now I am going to hang old tin trays on it instead.  Anybody have any ideas as to how to hang these on a wall?
We went into this little antique store in Bellingham that was so tiny and crammed full of stuff, you literally had to turn sideways to go down some of the aisles.  I got this set for next 4th of July.  It's in perfect condition and only set me back $18 which I think is a pretty good deal.  The guy running the shop took my money and handed me a sack and some newspaper to wrap it up myself!  Awesome customer service.
At what point do I stop buying old bread boxes?  NEVER!  And the coffee tin was in a booth that was 75% off.  Unfortunately (or fortunately) it was all I found.

I guess when we were antiquing on our girls trip, I had Rednesday in the back of my mind.  I sure did buy a lot of red things!  Head over to Sue Loves Cherries & see what other reds are happening this week.  I will be linking up over there too.

Until next time....

Erica

  1. I think I need to book a trip to Washington, because it looks like there's treasures galore! I would have bought every single one of these things too. And you can count me as one who has never seen those dotty bowls in real life. I've only drooled over them on Ebay. Congrats!
    Happy REDnesday,

  4. Oh my, you did really well on your treasuring hunt. I love those bowls. I have only one and would like the set.

The glasses and pitcher are nice.

I adore the tray! I have two of them. Different shape, though. One one of my old trays (not the one like yours) I used metal picture hangers and super glued them on.

    Happy rednesday!

  5. Ooo! scores! I have one of those dotty bowls but I paid a pretty penny for it! It was a big splurge for me.

I also have the canisters and cake carrier to match your bread box! Washington is my home state but I didn't thrift much when I lived there. I'm originally from Enumclaw. :)

  6. I'm just visiting through Rednesday, but I thought I'd answer your question about hanging the trays. DiscHangers are the answer. They are an adhesive disc that glues on to the back. The glue won't hurt the item, and can be soaked off if you ever change your mind. I saw them on HGTV, and bought mine at Hobby Lobby. You can find them on the 'net too. Love your blog---I love Pyrex too!

  7. I just got the Fire King Tulip set at an Estate sale, there was one polka dot bowl there, I should have bought it, for 12 bucks.

  9. LOVE those bowls! They were such a good find! It looks like you've been doing well. I'm going crazy over here! I've missed out on my flea markets the last 3 weekends in a row! This weekend I'll be there with bells on!

  10. You could provably use a large "plate" hanger to hand your metal trays with. Looks like you ladies really painted the town red!

  13. Scores! Everyone keeps finding such fun bread boxes. It's kinda inspiring me to look at them in a way I've never looked at them before.

Tots jealous that you've got a set of red polka dots Fire King bowls - lucky!

Anyways, I want those shampoo bottles.

Such fun finds for you this week.
