A few days ago, I went to a sale and picked up these sweet little cookbooks.

I knew I had seen those Hazel Atlas striped tumblers before! I picked these up a couple of weeks ago and have been waiting to share them on Rednesday.
At the same sale, I got this case of The Pop Shoppe soda bottles. Not sure exactly what I am going to do with them but I figured that some of them will work their way into my Valentine's Day & 4th of July decorations.
I stopped at the strangest little yard sale the other morning. The majority of it was tools and other guy stuff but from my car I spotted a lone table with some linens on it. I couldn't talk the lady down on her price for each of these ($3 each? Gasp!). But I knew that I was getting a pretty good deal. Have you seen the prices of vintage tablecloths in the antique stores? CRAZY! These all had some stains but no holes. I was able to get them clean and can't wait to use the Mexican themed one. Maybe I need to have an end of summer fiesta?
That's all for now. I need to get my butt on the elliptical just in case I decide to do my little fiesta I can actually enjoy it!

About 15 minutes North of my house is our "Historical Antique District". It is a tiny little town with a population of 1,041. The majority of the homes were built in the 1940's and the owners have done a wonderful job keeping their original charm. This little town also houses the majority of our area's antique stores. And every September, the city of Coburg hosts the Coburg Antique Fair with 200+ vendors. I can't wait!
Whenever there is a sale posted in the town of Coburg, I always go. I have never been to a bad sale yet. Last Friday, Maddie and headed to one that was given by a couple of ladies who were cleaning out their booth at one of the local antique malls. Instead of having a sale in their booth, they hauled it over to one of their houses and had a good old fashioned yard sale. Who doesn't love antique mall items at yard sale prices?
I got these two adorable little old school chairs for $2.00 apiece. I wanted to stick them out in our garden but after browsing Pinterest, I came up with this idea of what to do with one of them

Maddie found this old chalkboard and originally wanted to put it in her room. Then she thought to hang it in the laundry room as a reminder board for when school starts. At my house, nobody ever uses the front door. They always come and go through the laundry room so she is probably right to hang it in there. And I love this old mailbox. Although we can't use it for it's actual purpose, it still looks really cute hanging outside on our porch.
Can I just tell you how much I love this TURQUOISE (sorry to shout by turquoise makes me happy) mixer? I have a Kitchen Aid hand mixer that I bought several years ago for about 60 bucks and I haven't used it since! This is my new go to mixer. Sorry Kitchen Aid. You just aren't as cute (or as turquoise).
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this turquoise (spared you the shouting this time) rotary dial telephone. The last time Sister was in town, we came across one at an estate sale and the people wanted $70.00 for it. Six bucks was all I paid for this. I originally had wanted to put it in our office but it is so loud when it rings. I had to put it upstairs and when it rings, you can still hear it throughout the house. I love it!
And last I found this cake topper kit in the original box. I will definitely be using these.
Don't you love going to a sale where you find all kinds of the things that you love but don't feel like you got ripped off? A lot of times when you go to a dealers sale, it is just like they moved their booth into their garage but didn't change any of the prices. These ladies not only didn't do that but they cut their prices 50% or more.

Happy Pink Saturday, Everyone!
On Thursday, Miss Maddie and I were first and second in line for an amazing estate sale out in the country. We had to get their pretty early to claim our spots because the photos posted online were so great and left us no other choice. (**On a side note, some of you may notice that I spell Maddie's name either with an IE or a Y at the end. She changes it on a weekly basis so I always have to ask. Didn't want any of you to think I forgot how to spell my daughters name).
ANYWAY, we got in the door, split up, and managed to grab everything that was on our list. Whew, now I could breathe and just wander through the sale and see what else caught my eye. As I was getting ready to check out, I spotted an awesome glass doored cabinet in one of the bedrooms. My mind started reeling when I realized that it looked to be the perfect size for my kitchen. I have been looking for about a year for a spot to hold my pink and turquoise Pyrex collection. This was just what I had been looking for!
When I got home, I was so excited to get it cleaned up and put in it's new home that I didn't take a picture of it before I filled it up. But really, who wants to see an empty cabinet when they can see this instead
What's that you say? You want me to open the door?
Feeling a little lightheaded? Maybe I should have given you a little warning as to how awesome this would be.
Ready for some close-ups? Don't say I didn't warn you....
Pretty amazing, huh? Should I tell you that I have only been collecting Pyrex for a little over a year? Out of control, I know.
Now, where to put my Friendship, Horizon Blue, Primary, and all the other lovely patterns I also collect? Hmmmmm, is it too soon to add on to our house when we only built it 4 years ago?

Just because Sister asked, I'm gonna share the Missy Mouse set I got at an Estate Sale with her for $5. It is very cute, but I know if I display it I may come home to a house without a husband someday. He tolerates the pink pyrex pretty well, but little mice and mushrooms? It may be pushing it a little too far!
Some may be wondering how someone could be blogging at 9:30 on a Friday when it is estate sale season. I just couldn't resist a cup of coffee and the book Sister gave me called, "Killer Stuff and Tons of Money: An Insider's Look at the World of Flea Markets, Antiques, and Collecting," by Maureen Stanton. This is such an interesting book and if you're a collector you must read it! Here is a link to it on Amazon if you're interested:

Now, onto my recent red finds
The last time Sister visited, we hit an estate sale in a very strangely designed house. It belonged to two former professors at the University of Oregon and it was HUGE! I think it was 4300 square feet. It had 3 living rooms and the floor plan was just one huge circle. It was very 1960's. We each got lots of stuff and I got this old 6 pack of Dr Pepper to put on top of our vintage Dr Pepper/Pepsi vending machine we have out in our garage.
I got this perfect red Samsonite suitcase at a really dirty, off the road sale. The sale was full of garage sale rejects and this beauty stuck out like a sore thumb. I had to rescue her, and for a dollar, she was mine. You may remember that I picked up the matching train case a while back. If not, you can read about that score here. Anybody out there have any good tricks to getting the old lady smell out of old suitcases?
Sister and I found this set of amazing old canisters at an unadvertised estate sale. The nice thing about this sale was that it was not given by an estate sale company so the prices were dirt cheap and there were tons of vintage treasures to be had. Sister needs to show you the super cute mouse set she got. I got this whole set of tins for $4.00.
The husband picked up these old soda crates for our collection at an estate sale. As you can see, our collection is getting pretty big! I had to be at another sale at the same time so he headed to this one for me armed with a list from the pictures online. I'm pretty lucky to have found someone who shares my love of junk and doesn't mind if I keep on bringing it home. Bonus that he brings it home too.

Good Morning!
On my many to-do lists this summer I had a rusty, old metal cart like Sister's that needed to be sanded and repainted. I bought it at an Estate sale right when school got out for $1, and although I knew it would be a lot of work, I figured I could swallow that price much easier than the $225 price tag at my local antique mall. I got to sanding 2 days ago and realized that the rust had just pitted the surface a little too much and if I sanded it much more it would wear right through. So I decided to just spray paint it and hope for the best. Now this sits in my dinning room and gets some of my Pyrex out of the way, which makes the husband happy (and secretly me too, I have so much more room!) It isn't perfect, but it will do until I find one in better shape. I chose the color "green apple" and was pleasantly surprised that it matched my green 024 perfectly! Sorry, Bobcat Marley was feeling a little jealous this morning and jumped in the first photo :)
I've also been trying to incorporate my Pyrex into my house a little better, so maybe it doesn't look like I have such a problem. I picked up the Zodiac without a lid at an antique mall in Snohomish, Washington on our girls trip. I felt guilty because I paid more than I usually do, but I had never seen it anywhere and just couldn't resist! Of course, we saw a dishwasher damaged one that same day at a Value Village; I swear the Pyrex Gods just want to tease me sometimes! I decided to put it on one of my end tables in the living room that houses some of my favorite vintage books.
I also painted this shelf a few weeks ago and decided to incorporate my vintage and antique books in with a little Butterprint and other bird themed glassware.
And last, but not least, the top of my fridge is a little out of control. Please note the beautiful Mod Kitchen up on the very top. It is another splurge of mine that I am so happy I made!
Next on the redecorating and refurbishing horizon? I have a retro Cosco step stool to recover and spruce up and a cedar chest that needs some love.

I couldn't think of a better name for this post so I thought I would just sum up my general feeling about vintage in those three little words. Works well, huh?
This summer, I have been fortunate enough to hit some pretty amazing estate sales. For the most part, the sales where I have found the best stuff are like stepping into a time warp. I don't normally find just one or two older pieces here and there but an entire household full of vintage love. I guess that is what a true estate sale is all about. I know that pretty soon the sale season is going to get quieter and I will have to find another outlet for my lust for any and all vintage (ugh, Goodwill?) But for now I am just going to bask in the glory and reap the benefits of the estate sale season.
Here is what I have found lately
I have decided that I am going to start collecting vintage flamingos. I found this one at a little flea market set up at our local grange. I think it is a bud vase. I also got this (Wildendur?) tablecloth there for 50 cents. It was a mess but trust me when I say that Oxy Clean is the BEST thing ever invented to bring vintage tablecloths back to their original glory.
Miss Maddy and I found these at a small sale not too long ago. The suitcase was actually sitting on top of the table and for a dollar I couldn't pass it up. When I asked if the table was also for sale, the lady said she didn't have it for sale but would gladly give it to me for a dollar. Just what I needed. Another piece of patio furniture but it would have haunted me had I left it behind. Yes, I'm sick. I know.
I found this rug the same morning. I have been wanting to change out the throw rug in my living room to something lighter that I wouldn't have to vacuum as often (me, lazy? No. I just HATE vacuuming). Ignore the lines on the rug. I took the picture before it dried from being shampooed.
More amazing vintage linens. How cute is that Christmas apron? For those of you with photographic memories, you may recall that the tablecloth in the middle was used in my 4th of July decorations.
And what post titled "I Love Vintage" would be complete without my ultimate vintage love, Pyrex? I found this set of individual au gratin casseroles at the antique mall that has my favorite booth. Passing these up would have given me serious nightmares. Again, I have issues. I know.
