Christmas Thrifting!

The flea market was cancelled yesterday!  Dang weather & icy, snow packed roads.  Oh well.  I was able to finish up my decorating and our tree thawed enough to actually be able to go into the tree stand so it all worked out for the best.  They rescheduled the flea for next weekend which means another fun filled, vintage Christmas finds weekend!  On Saturday, Maddie & I are headed up to Portland for Crafty Wonderland.  It is the one show that we never seem to make it to due to the holiday chaos.  But this year, I made sure that I put it on my calendar well in advance so nothing is going to stand in our way!

Today is another no school day.  They actually cancelled it last night which never happens so the roads must be super bad.  I wouldn't know. I haven't been out of my house since Thursday!  Maddie is desperately trying to get me to wrap presents but that would require going outside to the shed and bringing in the supplies.  Oh the things I do for my kids...

Hanna & I were just talking the other day about how we don't feel like we have had as much luck with vintage Christmas at the thrifts this year.  After looking at what I have found recently, it may seem like a lot but compared to last year, it's really not.  But, I am super thrilled with what I have brought home lately!  Here is just a peek of what I have found in the last few weeks...

I found a big bag of cookie cutters at St. Vincent's.  We have so many of these that I am going to have to try and come up with alternate uses for them.  I saw on Pinterest where someone made a wreath out of them.  Hmmmmm....good idea!

Maddie spotted the Josef mice at St. Vincent's.  I'm not sure how old they are but she was really excited to find them and for 99 cents, I would have to be the worst mother ever to not let her buy them.  The choir boy was found at Goodwill and is unmarked.

Cute Christmas book and ornament hook boxes for my collection.

Can you guess what it is about this box that caught my eye?  Pink Balls?  Could that mean...

Pink Shiny Brites?  Why yes it does!!

99 cent bag of vintage ornaments.  Does it get any better?!

I love Christmas at the thrifts but this weather is really putting a damper on my hunting.  Hopefully I will be able to get out in the next day or so to check out if there is anything new.  Look at it this way...If I can't get out, then most likely no one else can either!

More next time...

  1. I'm lusting over your ornaments. All of them!! Thrift stores have gotten hip to the vintage ornament game around here. The one closest to me sells them for $4.00 each. EACH.

  6. A couple weeks ago I went to an antique store and bought a few x-mas things for really cheap...otherwise I haven't bought a single thing! Can you believe it??? I haven't been to a thrift store or Goodwill or anything! So I don't know if things are similar around here or not. For all I know there isn't any vintage x-mas out there anyway! lol That's what I'm telling myself. :)
I love your indents and I need to find that tree farm book!!! OMG that's cute!
Keep showing me what you find...I'll live through you for now!

  7. Love the pink Shiny Brites! The box looks fine, too.
I write this, because I finally recently found some Shiny Brites with my mom in the wild, but the boxes were all moldy. She bought them, anyway. ;-)

  9. Thanks so much for sharing at the We Call It Olde Link-Up. I love the pink balls! And the choir boy is so sweet. Since your stuck inside maybe you'll make something with the cookie cutters. I keep trying to make a wreath with vintage ornaments I got last year but never seem to have the time... - Dawn @ We Call It Junkin.com

  11. There has been a lack of vintage Christmas items around here for a few months. I usually pick up several boxes of Shiny Brites and some elves. I do not think one can have too many cookie cutters!

  12. Oh I am so envious becauseI haven't been thrifting in about a week and I need to get out there....and it's not because of the weather! I just don't need anything else in my house and I want to sell what I already have in my shop! I am afraid if I go out I will find things like you have and not be able to resist! I may go to the 50% off sale at our local VOA tomorrow........wonderful finds for you!

  16. I'm sorry to hear about the flea! At least they rescheduled & you get to pick up some great items this weekend!

A cookie cutter wreath? Gotta see it to decide if I like it. I was Googling something the other day & ran into a picture... It's totally going to be you one day! (I am gonna see if I can find it again, because I have nothing to do right now).

    Pink balls are best find.
