Summertime Thrift Finds

Happy Tuesday!

During the Summer, I don't go to the thrifts as often as I do during any other time of year.  For one thing, I usually can get my fix from the numerous sales that I go to every weekend.  I also spend a huge amount of time outside catching up on my reading list and just being lazy.  Hey, they don't call it the lazy days of Summer for nothing, right?  But for some reason, the sales have been pretty blah this year.  Nothing compared to last year, that's for sure.  So I took some time to head out to the thrifts today to see what I could find and hopefully scratch that little itch that's been bothering me.

I love to browse through decorating books to get ideas.  I already had the Shabby Chic book so this one will go to Sister.

I picked up this atomic era coffee pot and warmer for really cheap.  Like cheap enough to make it worth my while to try and sell it.

These glasses and turquoise pottery cup were in the cart of things waiting to be shelved.  The glasses aren't old but they are a really good size for ice tea and I won't freak out if I take them outside and they get broken.

I hit the jackpot on vintage pillowcases at two different thrifts.  It's been a while since I've found any.

Mod Kitchen is one of Hanna's favorite patterns of Pyrex and now thanks to a recent donation to my local Goodwill by someone who is obviously unaware of how collectible Pyrex can be, I now have my own piece!

Now for a late find that also fits in with today's finds.

A few weeks ago, on my birthday to be exact, I found this beauty at St. Vinnie's

An Embroidery 443 Promotional Cinderella Bowl!  I was super excited to find this even though I already had one that I found last year.

Then today, at a completely different St. Vinnie's, I stumbled upon this

No readers, you are not seeing double.  And just in case you think I might be trying to pull a fast one on you

Two Embroidery bowls found within weeks of each other at two entirely different SVDP's.  What are the odds of that?

Hmmmmm, I may have to get my butt out of the lounge chair on the patio and hit up the thrifts a little more this Summer.  What do you think?

I'm going to head to the following parties.  Hope to see you there!

  1. Oh, that Mod Kitchen is great! Love your two matching bowls, how unusual but lucky for you! I how I have a thing for vintage pillow cases too, so sweet. You did great, but reading and lazing is a wonderful thing to enjoy in the summer too, LOL!

  2. Lucky lady! I don't have one of those 442's!

You might have answered this somewhere in the depths of your blog, but do you use your pillowcases? I have amassed a large amount of character cases, but just can't use them. I have been using the same pillowcase since for about 15 years (omg, that sounds so gross now that I think/type it), but I like it.

    1. & those mini winking Santa's.. I only assumed they were tea lights because they had little gross candles from like the '70s or something in them. Christmas shots sound better.

  4. Both those fabulous patterns are on my wish list! You are a lucky chick for sure!
It does suck though that the sales have been bland this summer. Is it bad to hope for a really cool person to have an estate sale?... they don't have to pass away! Maybe just move or something. :-)

  5. I usually don't step into a thrift store all summer, but since the sales have been lackluster here too, I've been stopping in once in a while. Nothing there either! LOVE those vintage pillowcases and all of the Pyrex!

As far as a printer for Maddie.... There are a number of printers out there that do what Maddie needs....I am also going to try to get my kids photos done with the Snap/Project Life idea.....it sure is easy and looks like fun! Have her check the forums on the digital SB sites, they talk about equipment all the time....The Daily Digi is a real good one...:)

  11. Awesome finds! Love the Pyrex, especially the embroidery. I've been working so much that I'm getting behind on collecting my vintage stuff.

  12. I would say that it was a good day to get out and go thrifting! Great Pyrex finds and beautiful pillowcases! Sales are very slow around here also...probably need to hit the stores myself!

  13. Mod Kitchen & the turquoise Embroidery are two patterns I've never seen in real life. And they would sooo be coming home with me if I ever see them, even if they are like, a bazillion dollars :-) Nice finds!

  15. Awesome! So jealous of the Mod Kitchen!!! Pyrex thrifting has been terrible for a long time around here. I've bought more on ebay than I should just to scratch that itch...
