Back Again!

Happy Monday, Everyone!

I made it back from my long weekend in San Francisco.  Brian and I were trying to uphold our self-proclaimed title of Parents of the Year by taking Alex and two of his best friends to see Justin Timberlake & Jay Z at Candlestick Park.  18 total hours in a car with three teenage boys?  I think I deserve the title just for that!

Before we left, I was able to hit one pretty good estate sale that started on Wednesday night.  Weird, huh?  But it was given by a reputable company so I figured that I didn't have anything to lose.  Plus, I knew I wasn't going to get in any thrifting while in San Fran so I needed to try and get some sort of fix before leaving town.  I wasn't disappointed.

They had us go through the garage to enter the house so on my way to the kitchen, I grabbed this Squirt crate.  It's my first Squirt one.  The Pyrex Pixies were my only Pyrex buy.  There was a whole set of Homestead Cinderella bowls for $5 bucks but I hate Homestead and wouldn't feel right about trying to pawn them off on someone else.  Maddie just had to have the Golden book.  Can you guess why?

I never set out to collect Thermos' but how in the world do you expect me to walk away from such great graphics?  And I can't ever have enough donkeys, especially pink ones!  The Hazel Atlas shot glass is the first souvenir shot glass I have found.  Uh oh....another collection may be brewing.

One of the cashiers is the sweetest little old man.  I believe he is the father of the owner of the estate sale company.  He was so concerned about getting paper to wrap these deer in.  He told me that his wife had them years ago and he remembered that the antlers could snap off pretty easily.

The Lefton bell girl is missing her bell thingie so I need to try and fix that.  The Japan Santa will be right at home with all of his Santa friends at Christmas.  The bulbs now bring my total to three which I believe means a collection :-)

So not a bad little haul for a random Wednesday evening estate sale.  I even managed to get it all put away before I left town!

  1. Don't you just love sweet little old people?! That's so nice of him to have been concerned about your deer, which are super cute by the way! And the crate is fabulous!
I don't know what is worse, being stuck in the car with three teenagers or one screaming little dude. It's a draw I think!

  2. Glad you got a fix before the SF TRIP and I can't imagine teenage boys in the car for that drive (headed to SF this weekend for Alameda..but no teenage boys in tow, only my friend Amy). Love that the fellow wanted to wrap up those deer because of those antlers..I can tell you they are fragile! Welcome home.

  6. Souvenir shot glasses? Since you're starting a new collection, go ahead & throw in swizzle sticks!

I love the Squirt box. I really like Squirt. My sis & I were obsessed with that stuff. I don't think I'd like it anymore, just a nostalgia thing.

  10. Yessereee, you totally deserve to be Mother of the year for traveling with 3 teen boys. You are a brave girl!! LOL

I adore those little Pyrex pixies. My mom gave me one a few years ago. My Mom was a Pyrex collector before it was the cool thing to do. She would go to thrift stores hunting for it. She had a great collection. (my sister has it now). I think she would enjoy seeing everyone's collections!

  12. You found a lot of really neat stuff! I really like the Squirt crate and the Pyrex pixies! Definitely Parents of the Year for enduring 18 hours with teens for a concert!

  13. Oh, even I would have been happy to go to that concert, LOL! See you're not only back, but back with great finds. Yeah, I bought 3 thermos' because of the graphics and my SIL loved them, so I gave them to her. Way to easy to start another collection I don't need. Love your pink donkey!

  14. Ok....I would say that would make you Parents of the Year!! I have two teens and one almost out of college. Love following your blog and I also follow (stalk) you on Pinterest. I just had to tell you that I just get a big thrill when I see your pins!! Looks like we have the same taste in some things. I grew up in the Bay Area so when I saw you were talking about SF and Candlestick Park (Big SF Giants Fan) even though they're not there anymore, I had to make a comment to you :-) I also live in Medford OR so we're not too far away. Even though I don't know you, I think of you and your blog because I sold a bunch of Pyrex at our yard sale couple months ago and yes.....I could kick myself now. I still have my faves though :-)
