My house is a disaster right now. For the past few weeks, I have lived in somewhat of a construction zone. We are having some minor remodeling done and between the paint and flooring littering just about every surface of living area and the constant noise, I am about to lose my mind. I cannot stand a mess. I am horribly OCD when it comes to disarray. So what I've been doing to avoid pulling my hair out is getting out of the house and away from the chaos. So what do you think I've been doing? Thrifting and antiquing. Obviously :-)
Some cute Fire King and Hazel Atlas bowls are always good finds.
A couple of new glasses for my collections.
A child size iron that actually works from a local shop. Easter is slowly trickling into the thrifts and antique malls. I found this sweet pink Gurley bunny at Goodwill along with the flower frog which they had in the display case! Dear thrift store....why do you put things in a display case and then price them at $1.99? I understand small things like jewelry but really, who is going to stuff a giant heavy flower frog in their pocket?
Both of these items are duplicates for me but way too cheap to leave behind. I'll probably end up selling them on IG.
I found the tiniest pottery pitcher mixed in with the planters at Goodwill. I think I already have it but maybe in a different color. And I am never one to pass on canisters, especially when they meet my price requirements (cheap!). I store things in them all over the house!
I love this tray! It is huge and I actually used it last night when I ate dinner in bed. I live a rough life sometimes.
I found the pink one at a garage sale a couple of years ago. Don't they look pretty together?
I treated myself to the Fire King shakers a while back. It was killing me that I couldn't find them in the wild. I made a really low offer to the seller on eBay and she accepted it! So now I feel justified because even if I ever find them while I'm out and about, I bet they will be priced at least 3 times what I paid, even with shipping. The cocktail shaker was a recent flea market find that I just found in the back of my car. How could I have forgotten about that?!
Another day of hiding out tomorrow. I think I'll spend some time upstairs listing some items so I can justify bringing more home.
Have a great evening!
Erica
Such fun new (to you) things! Love the trays together, they are so pretty!! And lucky you on the Fire King shakers, always a nice feeling when you get a bargain!! ;) I was drooling a bit on those new linens your brought home and listed on IG today!! SO PRETTY!!! :) Have a great day! xo Holly
ReplyDeleteI have been so lucky with linens at this particular thrift lately. It always makes me wonder if they came from the same place.
DeleteHave a wonderful day, Holly!

It drives me crazy to have workers in my house too. I love the end result, but the mess and having extra people around drives me batty. You escape where I would escape to as well...junking.
ReplyDeleteI'm going crazy! Today the trim and molding is getting painted and for whatever reason, we have to mask off that end of the house. So Maddie won't be able to go into her room or use her bathroom until Saturday. But that's ok. I agree that the end result is worth all the headache.
DeleteHave a great day!

Lots of cute things. The trays look so sweet together! It is not fun having workers in the house. Glad you could get out and have some retail therapy.
ReplyDeleteThe end result is so worth it though. More out of the house today! But I actually have lots I need to do to get ready for my sister's baby shower that includes hitting up the thrifts so it should be a pretty fun day.
DeleteHave a great day!

What fun finds! I have the same canister set that goes with that aqua tea canister... however my flour is missing the lid :(
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the unveiling of all your construction projects. In the mean time, we all get to benefit from your thrifting/shopping adventures with all your great posts on IG and your blog! Great stuff and now I need to get my hands on some Easter gurley candles! A whole other holiday that I love to decorate for!!
ReplyDeleteGlad your finding relief from the mess. Everything is great, but I especially like the shakers. My philosophy is go where the hunting is good. Even online! Have a great week and enjoy your end results.
ReplyDeleteErica, I feel for you, I'm the same about my house being a mess and having work done. My kitchen took months and it was sooo hard. I worked then, so at least I was gone all day!!!
ReplyDeleteSometimes we just have to flat out buy things. Those shakers are the cutest!
Evie
Ha, sell so we can buy more, the thrifters motto! Hate a torn up house also, hope yours is finished soon.
ReplyDeleteLove your finds. Think you are the queen of finding cool bowls. The shakers are amazing. I'm still hunting for a fun pair.
LOVE the trays and the Fire King shakers! I got the shakers a few years back and I'm glad I did!!
ReplyDeleteI love the trays. I actually have the exact same blue tray. Found it at a flea market for $3. It's beautiful. I'll have to keep an eye out for the pink one.
ReplyDeleteOh, the trays! They are a match made in heaven. I collect the yellow lidded canisters with the flowers. The tiny bunny and floral frog might be in our GW's display case marked about $20! No kidding.
ReplyDeleteHey Erica, can you email me a photo of that orange quilt you thrifted? The badly quilted one? And can I use it in a blog post? I need to address a ton of quilt top questions lately.
ReplyDeleteLiving in a construction zone, TELL ME ABOUT IT! I've thrifter off the stress too, and that's provably why I don't have carpet in the living room! Haha. Love the salt and pepper shakers!
