People Can Be So Nice!

A few weeks ago, I received an email from a reader named Jilda who loves vintage Pyrex and grew up with Shiny Brite ornaments.  She definitely sounds like my kind of girl!  Anyway, she had been reading our blog and noticed that I have quite a collection of vintage Gurley candles.  She, along with her family, had begun participating in 26 Acts of Kindness in remembrance of the victims at Sandy Hook Elementary.  She found a Santa Gurley candle at a thrift store and wanted to pass it on to me as part of one of her acts.  I received Santa in the mail today.

He's huge!  I put him next to a normal size Santa candle just so you can see the difference.

Thanks again, Jilda for thinking of me.  I feel quite honored to be part of this and you have truly inspired me in my own random acts of kindness.

I'm gonna head over to A Very Cherry World for Rednesday.  Can't wait to see all of the other reds!

Until next time, blog friends....

  1. That is really nice. (And the Santa is really great!)

  2. Random acts of kindness can be so inspiring. :-) Thanks so much for sharing your Red with us all and thanks for stopping by.

  3. Thanks Erica. I'm so glad you liked it!
I found a Milk Glass Ziggy mug the other day at the thrift. My son's old teacher collects everything Ziggy. I saw her the other day and presented her with it. You'd think I gave her $500. She was so happy. I told her she could drink her coffee in it. She clutched the huge mug and told me not on her life. LOL. This is fun! Who knew gifting thrift items could be so much fun! Happy New Year. I'm looking forward to reading your blog this year.

  4. What a sweet act of kindness! I think many people are doing this, and it's such a wonderful thing! The other day the person infront of me in the drive-thru at McDonalds paid for me!
    The Santa is fantastic!
    Erica :)

  5. So nice of Jilda! And something that is just so perfect for you!!

I gave a few pizza coupon away before Christmas!, i have one more to give away to the right person, it makes you feel so good!,

  6. What a sweet thing for your friend to do. These random acts of kindness will really make a huge impact on our world if we keep it going.
Your santa candles are really cute. I collect gurley candles, too. They are all so cute! I posted a few pics of mine a couple of weeks ago on my blog. Stop by sometime if you have a chance.

  7. Random acts of kindness remind you there is still hope for our world. It isn't totally corrupt. Very nice gesture! :)

  8. Yup! There's way more good than bad in this ole world! that Santa *is* huge! How fun! ♥

  9. That is so cool! Little things like this give me hope.
