Whimsical Goodness

It doesn't happen very often these days, but I managed to pick up some new Christmas friends and a few crafty ideas from the thrift stores the last two days.  I'm pretty excited, so lets just jump right in.  I've never bought the giant clear container of junk at Goodwill because there was one special thing inside I had to have, it always just seemed so ridiculous.  Well, that changed this week, because I paid $4.99 for a GIANT container of garbage, with these friends inside.

This is two firsts for me, a plastic deer and 3 Santa mugs!  I could see the deer really well, and knew I had to have it.  What a nice surprise that there was not one, but 3 Santa mugs inside.  One still has the Meier and Frank sticker for 45 cents on it.  How sweet.

Then today I went to the weird thrift store by the post office and got something for Sister and something for us to share.
A pink topper for Sister's aluminum tree!  I was really excited to get her this.  I don't have a tree, so it is fun to help decorate both of Sisteritas.
I found this great Better Homes and Gardens Holiday Decorations Book from the 1970s.  I was excited about all the whimsical goodness I found inside.

 Little elf men cities.
 Mushroom and gnome table arrangements

And elf stockings!  I really like the ice skate one on the end too.  I love all these tiny creatures and creations!  Most of this book is Christmas related, but there was a very small section for other holidays and I found something else just for me.  A squirrel made of seeds.  I'm in love.

Hope you like my mostly foresty finds, I sure do.  I'm linking up over at Sue Loves Cherries for Rednesday.

See yah soon!

  1. Love your finds, and the topper is perfect for an aluminum tree. Come see mine! :) Pam

  2. Elf men! Gnomes! Mushrooms! Too much perfection, really. :)

  3. Oh yes, there comes a day when we all must buy the "giant clear container of junk", in order to get the good stuff! And you sure did! That book is a fabulous find!
    Great job Hanna :)

  4. That made me think, I have not found a deer yet this year, I found a few last year, oh, we'll, there's still time yet!!

    A seeded squirrel - neat!,

  5. A shiny brite tree topper at the thrifts! Hurray! Some day, some day. It's what keeps me hunting!

  6. Okay! That squirrel is awesome! I love it too! What other junk was in the 4.99 bag?! Do tell! :)

    1. Man, I wish there were other goodies, but unfortunetely no, just junk. It was still really fun opening it and hoping for more surprises though!

  7. That book is super cool! I love all the neat pictures!

  8. I have that very same book! It was my Grandmothers until she gave it to me for craft projects!

  9. Don't you just love it when you're able to find "new" things for Christmas, especially when they have lots of red?
