Alameda Weekend....Erica's Finds Part 2

Happy Sunday!

I'm taking a break from my day of projects to show you all some more from our fabulous weekend in California.  Believe me, I'm happy to do it.  It's almost a hundred degrees outside!  Not ideal painting weather if you ask me.

While we were hanging out in our hotel room Friday night, Hanna and I decided to check Craigslist to see if we could find any good sales to go to before we left Redding to head to Berkeley.  Nothing.  Not one single good sale.  So we just figured we'd hit the road bright and early and have some more time for stops along the way before our dinner reservation at 6:30.

So did you know that all the good sales in Redding are posted in the newspaper and not on Craigslist?  Well at least they were that weekend.  While Hanna did some crazy kind of yoga which involved tucking your tail (how did they know she had a tail?!), I made us a pretty good list of sales to hit from the online version of the local paper.

I have been practicing major restraint when I comes to vintage Christmas.  I have way too much and need to unload a huge amount of it.  But even I knew better than to leave behind this cute ornament box and tin.

Or this amazing 6-1/2 foot tall pom pom aluminum tree!  We found this at the second day of a garage sale from a seller who told us she paid about 5 times as much as she was asking.  Why was it still there?!!  Guess it was waiting for me.

Found some more cookbooks pamphlets for my growing collection.

This sweet paint by number has seen better days but I couldn't leave it behind.

This Tote Seat is definitely one of the quirkier finds I have come across in a while.  I thought it was an empty box for something.

But it's actually a souvenir from the Seattle World's fair and has all kinds of uses!

I picked up all this sweet stuff at the same sale as the Tote Seat.  I threw an elbow at Hanna to get to the pink deer.

This metal doll bed also made it's way home with me.  I would love any ideas you may have about what exactly to do with it.  Maddie & I have kind of outgrown dolls :-)  I am looking for a unique upcycling idea.

The lady that I bought these trays from asked me if I was going to redo them!  I had to bite my tongue from asking her if she was crazy.  They are perfect!

So that's it from our road trip estate sales.  It will definitely be part of our plan to hit them again the next time we head to Alameda.

Stay tuned for more from our trip!

  10. I can see the doll bed hung on the wall as a shelf - there have been many creative ways to create shelving from everyday items. I don't know if the dimensions would allow for this, but it might hold small towels, and the mesh can be used to hook things to. I think I might just keep my eyes open for one myself!
