On The Way To Breakfast...

Happy Monday!

A few weeks ago, Brian and I were headed to breakfast on Saturday morning and I happened to spot a flea market going on in the parking lot across the street from where we were going to eat.  I didn't even have to ask Brian to stop.  He is well trained.

This market was being given by a local antique mall who also host estate sales.  They just so happen to be my most favorite estate sale company ever.  The last sale I went to of theirs was incredible.  You can read about it here.

They were selling things that hadn't sold at their sales as well as hosting spaces for other people to come in and sell their stuff.  What was nice about the whole thing was that although it was a small market, it was all vintage.  And at flea market prices.

I found the unmarked Opal 403 and 404 as well as a Heinz promotional.

I already had the other two bowls so now I have the whole set!

I found a Ziplock bag with all of this Happy New Year stuff in it.  I have just enough now to do a small display after my Christmas stuff comes down.

I found this fan for $5.  I posted a picture on Instagram asking if people thought I should paint it or keep it original.  Keeping it original won.  Bonus is that this beauty works!

I got another Cat Studio souvenir glass for my collection.  I didn't have San Francisco yet so I was stoked to find it.  These retail for $12 apiece and the only ones that I have ever received brand new were the Arizona one Brian bought me to start my collection and the Las Vegas one he bought me as a souvenir.  The other 10 or so I have I found at sales or thrifts.  The red handled ice cream scoop replaced the Kitchen Aid one that I bought at Home Goods a while back.  It works about a million times better!

These finds totally whetted my appetite to go look for more junk.  So while we were at breakfast, I found a few more sales for Brian to take me to.  He had a bit of a hangover but was a total trooper.  I think he figured that it would be better for him to chauffer me around rather than go home and have to mow the lawn.  Plus he really likes going to sales.

Brian found me digging in a box underneath a table at a garage sale.  He called me a digger.  I've been called worse things.  Plus if you don't dig, you may not find awesome vintage sheets!

This one is king sized which just so happens to be the size of my bed!

I normally don't buy embroidered pillowcases but the flowers on these were too sweet to pass up.

I found these dishtowels at the very bottom of the box.

We got this old spreader for $2.  I love the graphics on it.

The lady having the garage sale collects Jadeite and this was the only piece she had for sale.  She told me that she is getting ready to downsize her collection and she took down my number with the promise to call me and give me first dibs.  Fingers crossed that she does!

I thought that these were buttons until I stabbed myself with one of them.  Evidently they are curtain tie backs.

Out on the outskirts of town, there is a small country store that not only sells chips and pop, but also has an attached antique store.  It's really random.  I've only ever stopped one other time and the vintage part of the store was closed.  This time they were open and WHOA were they overpriced!!  I was really scared when I picked up this souvenir Florida tablecloth.  If the price of it was to be based on the other items, they would be asking like a hundred dollars for it.  I'm not even kidding.  It was priced $7.  No stains, no holes, and completely perfect.  I guess you could say I found the diamond in the rough.

The last sale we went to started the day before and everything was half off.  I got all of these cans for a quarter apiece.

And all these for 50 cents each.  The Moth Nugget can is still full!

When we left to go to breakfast, the only thing I was interested in was a Bloody Mary.  I had a couple of those and found all this good junk.  I'd say it was a good, unplanned day.

Have a great day!

  1. Love the fan & tablecloth from florida.

I'm a digger too. That's how I find lots of good stuff - plus poking around in drawers. LOL.

Can you tell me how to tell if sheets and pillowcases are vintage?

  8. I love my collection of curtain tie backs and am pretty luck finding them. They are sharp and part of the danger of hunting for vintage.

I remember finding an Opal my first couple months of collecting... it looks like Pyrex, but it isn't marked.. so I left it. I'd love to have it now.
