Estate Sale Friday

Happy Friday Everyone, Hanna here!  It is a rarity that I'm home on a Friday night, but I decided it was time to try and go through some of my purchases over the last few weeks and get some organization going in my home.  That quickly turned into me realizing I had lots to share with you from the great estate sale I went to last Friday.

I took along a friend to this sale who had never been to an estate sale before and she was such a trooper.  We waited outside for an hour and she got to experience the full affect, from the socializing with everyone, to the peeking in the windows.  The sale opened a little early, I turned to her and said, "See you later!" and I was off.

I had noticed some Christmas in the first room and headed straight there.  I got about half of the goodies that I wanted but I was just so happy to finally find some holiday goodness.
I ended up with a good amount of small ornaments that will be perfect for wreath making.  I finally found a Valentine's day hanky, a small box of Shiny Brites, and some tiny frogs and mushrooms for crafting.

Next I ran off to the bedrooms that were jam packed with people and goodies.  One room had piles of vintage jewelery.  I knew I didn't have a chance and was much more interested in kitchenware, so I grabbed this beauty and headed out of the chaos.

Another globe!  This one is in really great shape and is going to be the first that I try to sell on Instagram.
I don't know about you, but bathrooms at estate sales really creep me out.  I rarely go inside them to tell you the truth.  I spotted these bright, pretty colors and decided I could brave it this one time.  This is a small stack of the many vintage wash cloths that I bought.  The bright colors make me so happy.

At this point my hands were full and I decided I would have to drop a load off before running back inside.  In all the excitement I realized I had broke my #1 rule and did not go to the kitchen first.  I was really excited about what I found so I forgave myself and struggled my way back in for round two.

When I finally got to the kitchen the sale had been going for a good 10 minutes.  With the number of people and that being said, I could not believe my eyes.
How had no one scooped this up!?!  I think the Pyrex Gods were shining down on me.  This totally made my whole week.  But, the sale continued to get better.

This sweet little pink sewing caddy was filthy but cleaned up so well!
This was my blind buy of the sale.  I bought this huge box of cards for a pretty great price.  I had no idea what was in the box, but figured I would take the risk.

When I got home I was happily surprised that there was an amazing bunch of unused vintage cards.  Here is a peek at some of my favorites.
I've never purchased afghans before, but I've noticed they sell like crazy on Instagram.  We will see how I do.

At this point I went to drop off another load and found my friend.  She looked like a kid in a candy shop and her hands were full of vintage jewelery.  I'm pretty sure I created a monster.  I went back in and managed to get a few items myself.

I'm hoping to figure out how to turn all the earrings from clip-ons to posts.  The jewelery box is in great shape on the inside and I think will be my very first decoupage project this summer.

It was great to finally go to a sale worth my time.  I think I may still have a little rush from it all.  I'm off tomorrow morning to another, so send me some good luck please!

  12. You found some great items! The Pyrex is awesome. I also found a piece of Pyrex for my mom, but it's not near as cool as yours! I would have one of the people going through the jewelry. I love vintage rhinestone brooches.

  16. Hi Hanna, I love the Pyrex bowls! I have the matching casserole dishes. Believe it or not a few months ago I was visiting my mom and she had them in her Goodwill pile. I grew up with those! I can't believe she was giving them away. ! Happy Pink Saturday. Xoxo. Marti

  17. Those Pyrex bowls are incredible! Someone sure messed up not grabbing those babies right away - lucky you! Love the pink sewing box! I had one similar many years ago but it was '70s burnt orange and fairly hideous. Love the Christmas ornaments as well - too fun!
Have a fun and successful weekend!

  18. Love having arms full of stuff at a sale! You got some great things! I had the same experience at a church rummage sale on my block. I had to go back twice to pile my treasures. It is just so much fun!
