Leaving Town

Hi Everyone!

Tomorrow, both Hanna & I are headed to the heat.  I'm going to Vegas and she is going to Phoenix.  We are both super sad that we won't be vacationing together but sometimes that is just the way things go.  But before I hop on a plane toward 100+ degree temperatures, I thought I would take a quick minute to share some recent finds.

I immediately thought of Jill over at A Little Bit of Everything when I found these old magazines.  It only took a couple of page flips to decide that I needed them all.  The covers are so great plus there is a Christmas issue too.  Can't wait to see what is in it!

I absolutely do not sew but I do collect these Better Homes and Gardens books.  They look really cute stacked on my coffee table.

Yay!  Another addition to my baby box for Hanna.  This is the trim on the sweetest nursery sized pillow case.  I love it!

I don't find king sized pillow cases very often, especially vintage ones.  Happy to find a pair in good condition!

I recently shared this on Instagram but haven't shown you guys yet.  I bought this dress form a few months ago from an estate sale and fell in love with the aqua base.  It needs some minor repairs but I still think its so pretty.  I have it sitting upstairs next to some vintage suitcases.  Every time I walk in the room, I still get startled.

Finally drug something out of the project pile in the garage and fixed it up.  I bought this Dominion fan at Goodwill a while back for 5 bucks.  It's original color was turquoise but it was really rusty and not in good shape at all.  Brian saw it as a challenge and took it apart, sanded it down, and repainted it all, including the blade.  I absolutely love this fan!  I point it at the elliptical when I work out in the morning.  Is it weird that something as simple as a fan can make me so giddy?

Well, that is all for now.  I have one estate sale to hit in the morning before we leave town.  Brian and I will be in Vegas for 4 days so I am sure I will be able to get him to leave the strip for a little bit to do a little digging.  Isn't it always fun to hunt in new areas?  You never know what you may find.

Be back next week!

  1. It doesn't take much to get hooked on those old magazines!!! What a find, they look good!!! One or two would be good for a plane trip or car, whichever way you travel! Have fun! I am off for a few days too, it's a long weekend here, i just know I will have things to share!

  2. I have an old dress form that I keep in the guest room and I can't tell you how many times I've walked in there and jumped because I thought someone was lurking in the corner!

Have a fun trip! Somewhere HOT sounds dreamy right about now...

  3. Have fun & Happy Hunting!

Yeah, Jills right. I bought 2 at an antique market last October & I somehow have about 40 Better Homes & Gardens from the 30s to 60s scattered all over the apartment.

    Love the fan!

  4. I love that fan! Hubby did a great job fixing it up. And tell Hanna that she ABSOLUTELY has to hit the Brass Armadillo in Phoenix. I also love Antique Plaza in Mesa. Not to mention all the amazing hiking. Probably one of my favorite places to visit during the wintertime.

  5. Oh fun, enjoy your trip! A little antiquing with gambling, cocktails and shows sounds great! love the fan, fabulous!

  6. What lovely things!! Hope you have a fun trip, sounds fun!! Love your "lady" (dress form) I have two and just adore them! :) When I first placed them around in our house, they startled me too....thinking it was a person standing there or something! Lol You almost have to do a double take! :) xo Holly

  7. That dress form is fanfreakingtastic! But I'm with you, she'd probably scare the crap out of me every time I glanced her way.
I hope you guys both have a good time on your vacations!

  8. The fan turned out GREAT! I bought, a male version of a dress form last summer at a garage sale for $3 thought I could use it in my booth for hankies and aprons, but it was too "male" to work. So it went upstairs in my barn. My husband threw a red and black flannel shirt on it and pushed it toward the upstairs window. The kids playing on the soccer field next door are always startled by the creepy lumberjack guy in the window looking at them!

  9. Hey it's the simple things that count! The last couple of weeks we have been sorting through my Grandmothers things, and I've gotten all kinds if treasures I won't show on the blog (because it will just stir up others in the family). BUT one of the things I did inherit was my grandmothers seeing form who I affectionately named "Lucille" when I was about 7. She will be making an appearance at the Miss Casablanca contest! And I TOTALLY know where you are coming from on the "being startled" bit. I KNOW where I put it and every time without fail I jump about a foot in the air! Haha the Fan looks great, love a good old one!
