Spring Has Sprung!

Good Morning, Friends!

Although it was the first day of Spring Break yesterday, Maddie and I were still out the door pretty early to get our errands done so we could come home and enjoy the 70+ degree weather we were expecting.  Our first stop was the DMV to pick up tags for Alex's truck.  I live an exciting life, I know.  Well, this particular DMV just so happens to be right next door to my local Goodwill.  So close, they share a parking lot.  So of course I had to go in.  Luckily, they were just unlocking the door when we walked up, otherwise I may have missed out on all of this absolutely, amazing, perfect, and Springy Pyrex...

I haven't found any Gooseberry in forever.  It's just one of those patterns that is pretty hard to come by around here, even at antique malls.  So to find 4 refrigerator dishes with lids at a thrift is super rare!

Horizon Blue is one of my most favorite patterns.  I use this style of casserole on almost a daily basis.  They are perfect to bake in, store leftovers in, and prep in.  I was stoked to find the larger 475 size.  That they came with lids was another bonus.

Rainbow Stripe Madness!  Can you believe that they had all of these taped together as a set for a whopping $7.99?  As I shared in my last post, I found the yellow 403 at the flea last weekend so now I just need the 401 and I will have another set.  I almost have two sets of the blue too, I just need to find the elusive 402.  I'm not a huge fan of the tan but I will keep it and try and put a set together.

So, everything I found was a duplicate but there was absolutely no way I was going to leave anything behind.  If I didn't buy it, someone else surely would have.  Plus, the Pyrex Gods must have been smiling down on my because my grand total for all of this beauty was $21.95.  CRAZY GOOD!!

I even did something I have never been known to do.  On our way home from running our errands, I stopped back in the same store to see if lightning could strike twice.  Sadly, the shelves were empty of Pyrex but I would really be a brat if I complained, right?

Oh Goodwill, my faith in you and your pricing is slowly being restored...

  1. Wow, you did good!!!
I have yet to find anything good at Goodwill or any thrift stores around here. But then, I don't get there often and I don't get there early enough, so I can't complain, right?

  2. Score!!! Glad to see someone having some good Pyrex luck. It's still a barren wasteland around here, but hopefully that will change when the weather decides to get warm and stay warm for more than a day or two at a time. Those patterns & colors together are just the cat's pajamas!

  3. Lucky or what!!!!

I had one piece of Horizon but I gave it to Carla, I don't own not one piece of stripes but I happily have a few Gooseberry pieces - lucky in Pyrex and lucky in weather - it might be that warm by June here!!! Winter has been way too long...

  4. WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!! If I found all of that my faith would be restored in my local Goodwills. Unfortunately, the rumor is, around my parts all Pyrex and other collectibles are no longer being put on the shelves, but are instead going straight to the shopgoodwill.com warehouse.

  6. You lucky duck! I really like the striped bowls. Maybe you can use the brown stripes in the fall. It seems sort of Thanksgiving-ish.

  9. Oh my goodness! If I had found anything like that in my local thrifts (either one of them, lol) I would have FalLeN oVeR in the FlOoR!!! Good for you! Also jealous of your weather: 32 degrees in VA this morning with 3 inches of snow on the ground….argh.

  10. Amazing! My Goodwill would have had the striped Pyrex for $17.99 a bowl, not $7.99 a set, wow! Great finds ALL!

70??? I'm supposed to live in the snow and we had snow yesterday. :(

  13. How lucky you are finding all this springy Pyrex in early spring! How'd you manage that girl? Ha! I have the small Horizon and the solid blue one just larger, but not that bigger pattered one you have. Hope to find some stripes one day, they're so pretty! Thanks for sharing this at the History & Home Link Party this week! Take care - Dawn @ We Call It Junkin.com

  14. Oh, all that fabulous Pyrex! They have had the best designs through the years! I love the stripes, I'll have to look for those!
Our Goodwill is right smack next to an antique shop where people rent booth space... they don't share a parking lot but there is access through from one place to the other! Buy it at Goodwill and put it in your booth!!
