So yesterday, I headed out early with Miss Maddy in tow to a couple of Thursday sales. The first one was grossly overpriced ($20 for a broken Pepsi crate? Really?) and the second one was NOT an estate sale as advertised but a "we are moving and here is the junk we don't want to haul with us" sale. Total waste of my time.
But the early morning hunt was not a total loss. On the way home, we came across a little yard sale behind the city pool in a neighborhood I didn't even know existed. This little sale made my whole not getting to sleep in morning worth it
Gotta love Melmac (and I do). $3 for the whole box. Not too shabby, huh?
Also, you should head over to The Pyrex Collective 2 to find out about my Pink Gooseberry score. Amazing. Just saying.
I'm also gonna try to link up to Pink Saturday over at How Sweet The Sound. I'm pretty new to this whole linking business so cross your fingers that it works!
Have a great weekend!
Erica
The Melmac is so bright and pretty! Good luck "linking", I've never done it- hope it works well.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful!! Happy Pink Saturday and have a nice weekend.

Thanks so much! Happy Pink Saturday to you too. I will definitely be checking out your blogs, too.
DeleteHow charming, and such sweet memories! I longed for a pink kitchen for YEARS, and settled for a few pieces of Melmac---it just gave me the nicest feeling to put those pretty dishes on the table.
ReplyDeleteMy DH has come home with two boxes of the stuff in the past year---we've used it a LOT, because it makes splendid patio dishes--one set in several shades of Spring green.
The whole reason that I wanted to start collecting vintage Melmac was for the exact same reason as you. They are the PERFECT patio dishes.
DeleteWell, your linking experience worked! I love Melmac and you scored quite a find! My grandmother had a set of Melmac dishes when I was little that were white with one pink rose on a long stem on each plate. I loved those dishes and have no idea what ever happened to them.

P.S. New follower!
Hi Robin,
DeleteYesterday at an Estate Sale, I picked up three more large pink bowls to add to my collection. The seller also had a full set of white with a single pink rose on them but I didn't need a whole set. How funny! These had to be the same ones your grandmother had.
