Thrifty Finds...Finally!

Happy Saturday!

This is the first weekend in a long time that we haven't had something planned.  We normally have people visiting, basketball, or the weather is just too awful to go out in.  Well this weekend it is supposed to be sunny and in the high 50's.  I already have some vintage linens soaking to hang outside. Hopefully I didn't jump the gun!

This last week I had lots of errands to run around town so I did find myself in the vicinity of the thrifts a few times.  Remember how I told you that this was the only way I would let myself go in?  Well, I'm happy to report that I had some luck...finally!

The Meadow promotional is a duplicate for me so I think I will put it on eBay to fund some of the purchases that I make.  I like to buy things online from time to time and I can justify it a little better if the money is already in my Paypal account.  The blue 502 was only a dollar so it came home with me for obvious reasons.

For me, Friendship is one of the hardest patterns to find in the wild, especially the patterned lids.  I found this one at a secret thrift that I won't even tell Sister about.

See the awesome pink shutter behind the Friendship?  Well, I actually found this a while ago and haven't shared it with you yet.  I'm not sure what I want to do with it so for now I got Brian to hang it on the wall above our closet.

Love vintage sheets and am always happy to find them.  After the glassware aisle, these are always what I look for next.  I keep threatening to learn how to sew so I can do something crafty with them.

When we were waiting in line to pay for the sheets, Maddie found a basket of books marked 4 for a dollar.  I think she found some good ones, don't you?

This old bushel basket was in with the regular baskets and a 50% off color.  TONS of possibilities!  I've even got one that someone turned into a lighting fixture pinned on one of my Pinterest boards.  How fun would that be?

Okay, so back to how I will use the money that I make selling on eBay to fund some of those vintage purchases that I just don't foresee finding in the wild....

Since I'm getting to the point where it's harder to find Pyrex pieces that I don't already have, I have switched my focus to Fire King.  LOVE this mixing bowl set.  There is a set on Etsy that is way out of my price range that I have been coveting forever so when I found this set on eBay for less than half the price plus free shipping, I jumped on it.

I think it fits in pretty well, don't you?

Busy day today....off to Lowes this morning to pick out paint for the laundry room and then to the tile store to order the new flooring.  Then I promised Brian I would help clean out all of the cars.  Maybe the sunny weather isn't such a good thing.....

Linking up with Pink Saturday & Junkin' Joe.

Have a great weekend!

  2. Holy cow, love those Fire Kings! You'll have to figure out what to collect next after you collect all the Fire Kings you can find. Enjoy the sunny day. We're supposed to be in the 50's also, but then possibly snow tonight and back to the lower numbers.

  3. I've read that Little Red Caboose book SO many times to my son that I think I have it memorized, LOL. It has such cute illustrations!

We need Melissa from Andromeda Vintage to show us how to make pajama pants out of those vintage sheets! Come to think of it, I bought a book a few years back on sewing with vintage sheets! Need to go dig that out!

PS I love the Fire King bowls! I think I actually love FK more than Pyrex! ~gasp~

  4. Wonderful finds. I love the linens. If you learn to sew you are doomed. I see something new in everything out there. We've been finding many good pieces of fabric lately and will be specializing in that more and more for our store. Easier to store and ship than a lot of items. Happy hunting.

  8. You have some neat finds! Of course, the stacked bowls caught my eye. I have mom's Pyrex set. I grew up with them and she gave them to me not long ago. I love them. I didn't know about Fire King and their bowls. Nice looking set of bowls! (I posted about my bowls on 1/12/12 Time Travel post, FYI)

    Happy Pink Saturday!

  9. Yay! I was so happy to see that last pic of how you are displaying things. The Fire King bowls are beautiful!
We are practically snowed in here. It's just such a joke, how cold and snowy this winter is. No fun at all! You can bet that come May I will be ready to hit the flea markets like a mad woman!!!!

  13. I know my mother had some pyrex, but I don't recall Fire King. I am vintage myself and don't think I ever used pyrex. Seeing all of the patterns makes me wonder where I was.

  15. Do you use Valspar paint at loses?! It's my FAVORITE! The color never fades! Maybe you could use the pink shutter to hold jewelry? The fire king bowls look nice! And I can't wait to see what you do with the basket!

  16. I am the same way - so much easier to make an eBay purchase when there's already money in the Paypal account! $24 for a Lisa Frank sticker? Ya no probs. Not really, but you know what I mean.

    Love them Fire King bowls!

  17. Oh wow! I have the same basket, but I found it with a cute vintage liner. If you end up using it in any unique ways, please share!

That Fire King set is to DIE FOR. I've never even seen that one before! When I first saw it I thought it was some sort of funky Pyrex. Very nice finds! But I feel like a broken record because I'm ALWAYS in awe of your finds.

    Cheers,
    Heather

  19. Yay for all the Pyrex! Friendship is the hardest to find here too.
Make a mail sorter or paper organizer with your shutter! I found an old one in my attic when we first moved in. Spray painted it black, added a cardboard backing and boom, mail organizer! It's awesome.
