Nothing To Do....

Do you ever have one of those days where you really don't have anything to do?  Let me rephrase that.  You don't have anything that you have to do.  The laundry is done, this house is (somewhat) clean, and you are the only one home?  I have been having that type of day. Don't be jealous, readers.  This happens once in a blue moon.
I found these old cookbooks at St. Vincents yesterday.  Maddie and I still have our plan to make something once a week out of one of the cookbooks that we bring home. But we are still experiencing abnormal summer like weather here so it makes it hard for me to get in the kitchen and bake.  I love to cook and bake but only when the weather makes it hard to go outside and do anything else.
I also got this cute set of vintage cards.  They are for when someone is sick, you send them a different card every day of the week.  Inside are puzzles and corny 1960's jokes.
I admit it.  I am a vintage jar junkie.  I have them lined up in my kitchen and they hold sugar, cookies, drink mixes, whatever.
This is the first chenille baby blanket that I have found that was both reasonably priced and in excellent condition.  This may or may not make it into my baby box for Sister.
Another McCoy pot for my collection.  I picked this up at the same sale as the jar and blanket.  It was in the laundry room.  You never know where you will find treasures at estate sales.

There you have it.  Some of my exciting finds from the last few days.  I have slowly been making my way back into the thrifts since the garage sales have been so bad and end of season-ish.  Still no good Pyrex, though.  Unless you like dishwashered and overpriced. Then you may just get lucky!

Sister Hanna Update:  Thanks to all of you who sent Hanna get well wishes!  She does have a minor concussion and was ordered to basically do nothing that requires her brain to work.  No reading, watching TV, or teaching.  She lasted for one whole day.  I'm so proud of her.

Linking up over at Vintage Thingie Thursdays.  See you there!

Until next time...

Erica

  5. Your baby blanket is so pretty! I've only ever seen those all gross and full of holes. I'm excited to see your thrift store finds. It's a whole different scene.

  6. My only option right now is the Thift store about once a week, unless I really lose my mind and go to the Antique store! Yesterday I scored a cute 024 casserole in that lighter bubble gum pink color (instead of the flamigo pink) for $4! YES, it seems that I can't quit the Pyrex habit! Someone should have told me just how impossible it was, before I made that silly decloration on my blog! Haha! But thank you for holding me accountable Erica!! :P
I think that's a great idea that you and Maddie (aka Maddy)have to bake something from your cookbooks once a week. Will you show us what you make? Hope so!
    Your PYREX addicted friend,

  7. I love chenille baby/child blankets! I'd be interested to know what you think a reasonable price is. The cheapest I've found one was $12.00 and I snagged it! it's still my favorite one, too.

A whole day for Hanna? Good for her! :)

    1. Hi Holly!

I paid 10 dollars for it. I have seen them in horrible shape for waaaaaaay more money so I was pretty happy.

  8. I never have those days. There is always something to do because we're always usually to lazy to do it!

I'm a vintage card junkie. They are floating just about in every drawer & box in the house. There seems to be an overhaul of Get Well ones.

  9. I will be so sad when I can't use the It's Too Nice Out To Cook excuse any longer! But I have a ton of them, because I hate to cook!

Love all of your finds, but especially the McCoy pot and the vintage Halloween blow mold you found a few days ago. I can never pass those up, and if my husband knew exactly how many I have, I'd be in BIG trouble!
