Hunting

This is a hard time of year for me as a junker.  It's still a little too early for estate sales and the flea market has been really blah because of the aforementioned lack of sales.  There just isn't a lot of good junk to go around right now.  I am chomping at the bit for a good haul!  So until the sun comes out and the weather warms up and people get motivated to sell grandma's good stuff, I am forced to work a little harder to find the things I covet.  Challenge accepted!!

I found the pink Miss Cutie Pie tea pot from Goodwill!  It's in perfect condition.  This is the third piece of Miss Cutie Pie I have thrifted.  I'd love to find a yellow piece.  The blue cream and sugar set came from an online trade for a pink Pyrex 401.  I'd say that's a good trade!  The creamer is a duplicate for me but I figure it's a good idea to have backups in this stuff.  It's getting pretty hard to find!

Do you guys remember Hanna?  You know, the other half of Pyrex Thrifter Sisters?  Well even though she is SUPER busy with my crazy, nearly 11 month old niece, she still finds time to find me the best Christmas gifts ever.  She started the Hazel Atlas musical pig and pink elephant collections for me so I always look forward to see what she is going to add to them.

A while back, I bought these two old drawers from the flea market.  I lined them with some Farm Chicks found vintage wallpaper and turned them into my new tiny pottery shelf.  Pretty cute, huh?

I found both pairs of these bluebird shakers from the same seller who gave me what he called a "bulk deal".  Discounts always work for me!

I think it may be time to find another shelf...

Found these awesome flamingo glasses from my favorite out of town antique mall.

And I'll leave you with an updated look to my tablecloth collection.  I think it may be time to either A) purge some or B) find a new shelf.  Which one do you think I'll choose?

Hope everybody is finding some good junk!

Until next time...

~Erica

  3. You may have to work hard to find it, but damn, you find good stuff! I love that Cutie Pie girl stuff. I don't have nay, but wouldn't I love to spot some on a shelf somewhere. For a dollar, of course. :D I am going to purge a bunch of tablecloths to sell at The Junk ranch. Oh, never fear - I will keep a ton. I ain't stoopid!

  4. Lots of trouble getting your comment box to come up for me. Anyway I love your Blue Bird collection and your Miss cutie pie. I reckon you're looking for another cabinet, LOL. I'm cleaning out some Linens myself but it is so hard to actually part with them. :)

    1. I can't seem to find your comment box - so I'll comment here - I love Miss Cutie Pie too. My set was gifted to me - an unbelievably generous gift! I live in a remote area - I don't find vintage tablecloths or cute bluebirds - but I have ebayed a few. Your collections are WONDERFUL! I think - get MORE shelves and enjoy!

  6. Never purge tablecloths-you'll regret it later, unless they are some that you aren't in love with! I got a bigger shelf, and then more shelves!! LOVE all of your finds! Great idea with the drawers!!

  7. Agree - never purge tablecloths. I roll mine, tie with a ribbon, and store in a basket. I rotate them out. I never find any of those cute pottery figurines any more. Maybe they all raveled west.

  9. Hi, fellow Pyrex obsessive here! I just signed a lease with an antique mall, so I've been thrifting nonstop. Do you (or anybody you know of) know anything about vintage glass? I found a teacup that I can't seem to get any info on.

It's the second last piece on here: http://blixamix.blogspot.ca/2016/03/goodwill-haul.html

    Thanks!

  14. I am on the lookout for a complete 4-piece pink or turquoise Pyrex mixing bowl set, or at least the smallest pink bowl for my 88-year old mom. No dulled from the dishwasher, I want them shiny, pristine condition? Anyone have interest in re-purposed linens I have made into table runners (be assured the linens were raggedy, stained, ugly), framed collages, and Christmas ornaments willing to make a trade?
